I am grateful to share the wisdom and curiosities of my 40+years of creating and studying movement and 20 years of curating experiences helping others move, feel and heal. My evolving and eclectic approach blends my knowledge of the body's ability to heal through breath, movement and touch from my studies, training and experience in therapeutic movement, dance, Qigong, yoga, Pilates, massage therapy and Myofascial Release Approach with John F Barnes PT. I am holistic health care professional licensed in Massage and Bodywork Therapy with expert level training in John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach® and am certified in Pilates with the Physicalmind Institute. My practice provides individualized Myofascial Release Therapy, guided movement and self myofascial release treatments by appointment on line and available in person in Asheville and Black Mountain, NC and seasonally in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, PA

Movement and touch have always been a primary means for communication and a source of emotional and physical release and resiliency for me. I have loved dancing and have been mesmerized by the body for as long as I can remember. I began creating my own movement language and started massaging and walking on my Dad's back when I was three years old. I danced through college while earning a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Interest in Pilates emerged while in physical therapy for pain and imbalance from overuse and dance injuries. Pilates helped me stay connected with movement while I stopped training in dance. Training in Pilates and my first business, Cleaning Cousins, began in 2001 while living on Maui, HI. I am certified to teach Pilates through the Physicalmind Institute I opened Pilates with Emily in Breckenridge, CO in 2003 and Trinity Wellness Studio in Frisco, CO in 2005 and sold the Pilates, yoga and massage studio when I returned to my Philadelphia roots in 2010.

I became familiar and fascinated with Myofascial Release as an experienced and long term recipient of various traditional and alternative approaches to Eastern and Western bodywork and medicine including Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Osteopathic and Traditional Chinese Medicine including acupuncture, herbs and Qigong, Craniosacral Therapy, Rolfing, Pilates and numerous styles of yoga and massage. By my early 20's, musculoskeletal imbalance had created compensatory dysfunction and chronic pain. My curiosity to understand our bodies, treating and preventing pain through movement was growing as rapidly and widespread as my need to alleviate my own myofascial restriction symptoms.   

My understanding of movement, the body and my life became clarified and simplified when I began learning the hidden and widely unknown truths about fascia. I attended my first seminar in John F Barnes Myofascial Release Approach®  as a patient in 2012. I enrolled in his Healing Seminar interested in enhancing my own healing and expanding on the repertoire of self care that I was already offering movement clients. I was mesmerized by the feel and use of my hands as tools to help others repair themselves. I enrolled in massage school after that weekend and became a licensed massage therapist in October of 2013.

 My movement education has evolved beyond teaching the Pilates exercises and has naturalized through practicing Qigong and grounding in the universal developmental movement patterns we all taught ourselves. I began practicing Qigong, ancient Chinese health exercises for longevity in 2014 and am trained to teach Daisy Lee's Women's Radiant Lotus Qigong. I teach a fusion that blends functional and developmental movement patterns with the principles of John F Barnes' Myofascial Release Approach, qigong, yin yoga and Pilates. I continue to study fascia and Myofascial Release Therapy with John Barnes and completed expert level training in his approach in September 2019. I am grateful and honored to serve others and share the ingredients of nature's for healing.
