Welcome! I am Emily Smith and am grateful to share 20 years experience of helping others move, feel and heal. I am heartfelt in helping others eliminate pain and remember how to breath, soften and strengthen as naturally as a baby. I believe Myofascial Release Therapy, nourishing movement and touch are vital ingredients in the recipe for longevity. Exploring curiosities and understanding the art and science of healing with the languages of the body and to work closely with humans being a body, mind and spirit is my honor.
I love curating sensual experiences that cultivate awareness through movement and touch.  I am licensed in Massage and Bodywork Therapy in NC and PA with expert training in John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach® and am certified in Pilates with the Physicalmind Institute. I offer Myofascial Release Therapy and individualized tele health and therapeutic movement and self myofascial release treatments by appointment on line and in person in Black Mountain and Ashville, NC.

For scheduling please Email [email protected] text or call Emily 484.472.3626

My mission is to help others embrace the ability to heal naturally with an adaptability practice of softening and strengthening with awareness, movement and touch.

3 ancient sources of longevity: movement, meditation and emotional expression
While smiles are masked and heads bow to screens, the art of communicating with our bodies is changing. While change happens outside of the comfort zone, moving outside of our comfort zones is where healing happens. The more often we adapt the more adaptable we become.
Movement is a universal language we originally taught ourselves and is intended to be utilized for a lifetime. Nourishing touch and movement maintain longevity, adaptability and the balance of softness and strength in our bodies and minds. March forth happy just to be one human family. Literally. Marching, smiling and breathing are simple human movement that lifts spirits, maintain vertical alignment, balance, tone, mobility and stability. Help the human family heal by taking charge of healing oneself with movement and touch. Loving yourself can do a world of good and that does good for the world.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world" - Gandhi

Movement and touch have always been a primary means for communication and a source of emotional and physical release and resiliency for me. I have loved dancing and have been mesmerized by the body for as long as I can remember. I began creating my own movement language and started massaging and walking on my Dad's back when I was three years old. I danced through college while earning a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Interest in Pilates emerged while in physical therapy for pain and imbalance from overuse and dance injuries. Pilates helped me stay connected with movement while I stopped training in dance. Training in Pilates and my first business, Cleaning Cousins, began in 2001 while living on Maui, HI. I am certified to teach Pilates through the Physicalmind Institute and have trained with teachers in Maui, HI, Narberth, PA, Scottsdale, AZ and Denver, CO. I taught my first Pilates mat class in Breckenridge, CO where I began Pilates with Emily in 2003 and opened Trinity Wellness Studio in Frisco, CO in 2005. I sold the Pilates, yoga and massage studio when I returned to East Coast roots in 2010. My fascination in the healing arts developed through my need to heal. After a decade or longer of living with chronic issues in my tissues, I became familiar with Myofascial Release. In 2012, I attended my first seminar in John F Barnes Myofascial Release Approach® as a patient interested in enhancing my own self care and the repertoire that I was offering movement clients. I was mesmerized by the feel and use of my hands as tools to help others heal. My understanding of movement, the body and my life made sense when I began to understand fascia. I enrolled in massage school after that weekend and became a licensed massage therapist in 2013. I created and began teaching Liquidbody, group classes and workshops on Self Myofascial Release and therapeutic movement around the Philadelphia communities.  I continue to study fascia and Myofascial Release Therapy with John Barnes and completed expert level training in his approach in September 2019. My movement education has evolved beyond teaching the Pilates exercises and is simplified by focusing on the functional and developmental movement patterns we all taught ourselves as a foundation for movement. I began practicing  and blending Qigong into my teaching since 2014 and am trained to teach Daisy Lee's Women's Radiant Lotus Qigong.
